As a director of the company, the Director of Finance will work with 501 Auctions’ Co-Founders and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The Director of Finance will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. The Director of Finance will manage a three person finance team and oversee all financial functions including budgeting, reporting, cash management, risk management, financial control, audits, and taxes. This position is based at our Richmond, VA office.



  • Create and oversee short-, medium-, and long-term budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Build and execute a company-wide cadence around planning, budgeting, reporting, and assessment
  • Work with business units to develop KPI’s and a detailed understanding of the revenue and expense drivers of the business, along with opportunities and financial risks
  • Work with Directors to build and improve the models they use for projections, reporting, and evaluation
  • Evaluate strategic alternatives and deliver actionable recommendations based on projected financial impacts
  • Partner with HR to ensure appropriate workforce planning is in place based on the strategic and financial plans of the business
  • Ensure the timeliness, accuracy and integrity of monthly and quarterly financial reporting. Oversee external tax preparation and audit
  • Maintain legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions, including maintenance of and enhancements to financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and controls
  • Assess and manage the company’s financial risks and controls
  • Supervise accounting and payroll to ensure accuracy and timeliness in payrolls, recordkeeping, A/P, A/R, and collections
  • Support company-wide execution to achieve the company’s growth and stability goals by providing strategic leadership for financial functions


  • BA/BS in Business/Finance/Accounting
  • At least 7 years of Financial Management experience with a minimum of 4 years experience in managing people
  • CPA/CMA/MBA highly preferred
  • Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting, internal controls, tax, and GAAP rules
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to effectively translate complex ideas and tailor key messages to multiple audiences
  • The ideal candidate with have an innate service mentality



Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time
  • Needs to occasionally move about within the office to access supplies and equipment
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs
  • Must be able to maintain written and oral communications with coworkers and clients
  • Must be able to work in an open office environment
